Be the Church. Make a Difference.

Here are a few examples of how we Make a Difference a Providence.

Providence Singers: in their mission outreach to our older community, this group of singers perform Broadway hits and chart toppers of yesteryear at retirement communities all around Northern Virginia.

FISH: For Immediate Sympathetic Help is a volunteer, non-profit ecumenical outreach organization of 14 churches serving the needy in the vicinity of Fairfax City.

Holiday gift offerings: One Great Hour of Sharing at Easter and Joy Offering at Christmas

Shelter Meals: Once a month Providence volunteers prepare, cook and serve meals at Bailey’s Crossroads Community Shelter.

Make a Difference during the Holidays

Salvation Army Christmas Stocking Program This program serves boys and girls, ages birth – 12 years old, in need throughout the Fairfax County community. The
Salvation Army Fairfax Corps’ goal this year is to serve 2,000 children, and Providence members and friends can help them reach that goal.

Holiday Adopt-A-Family  Providence members and friends provide families in the Fairfax and Annandale areas with Thanksgiving food baskets as well as Christmas gifts, children’s stockings, and food baskets.

Operation Share-a-Coat  Along with other churches, Providence gathers and distributes hooded sweatshirts, jackets, gloves, and hats to day laborers in need of warm clothing in the Annandale/Little River Turnpike area. Children’s coats are given to children at the ACCA Child Development Center. Women’s clothing is shared with guests at the Baileys Crossroads Shelter.

The Littlest Tree  A tree is set out at Christmas on which Providence members hang children’s hats, mittens, and underwear to be distributed to needy children at the ACCA Child Development Center.

Opportunities, Alternative, and Resource  OAR’s mission is to rebuild lives and break the cycle of crime with opportunities, alternatives, and resources for offenders and their families to create a safer community.  Providence provides financial support to educational programs for those transitioning back into the community.  We also provide Christmas cards for programs at the Adult Detention Center.
