We are especially thankful for God’s gift of music at Providence and the power that it provides to connect our lives and faith. The Bible tells us to be “filled with the Spirit as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, singing and making melody to the Lord in your hearts, giving thanks to God the Father at all times and for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 5 18-19) We celebrate God’s love through music at Providence, and music also helps us to seek God’s truth and serve God’s world.
When you worship at Providence, one of the first things you will notice is the tremendous musical talent with which God has blessed us. At the traditional service, the pipe organ, the Sanctuary Choir, and accomplished soloists will raise you up and provide spiritual nourishment. The skilled instrumentalists and singers of the Providence Worship Band in our contemporary service will connect you to God and move your spirit. Through our Music Ministry we provide opportunities for people to use the gifts of music God gave them and to minister to the congregation and beyond. You’ll be amazed at the ensembles, instrumentalists, as well as the soloists, especially during the Christmas and Easter seasons. We share God’s musical gifts with the community through programs such as Providence Singers and by supporting Music and Arts at Providence.
Music is a ministry at Providence not only to those who hear it but also to those who make it. When our musical ensembles meet for rehearsals it is not just practice. It is a time for spiritual renewal and fellowship during the week. When you hear them, you’ll know they believe what they’re singing.
