Director of Music
Terry Stoneberg is Director of Music at Providence Presbyterian Church, where he directs the Sanctuary Choir. Terry completed a bachelor’s degree in math and physics from Houghton College (New York) and a Masters of Music in Choral conducting from The Eastman School of Music, where he also completed his doctoral studies in vocal performance.
Versatility has been the hallmark of Terry’s musical career since it began over 30 years ago as a saxophonist in a jazz band. A singing actor, Terry has performed with a wide range of organizations, including the Paul Hill Chorale, Washington Singers, Choralis, Eastman Opera Theatre, Greater Miami Opera, Fort Lauderdale Opera, Rochester Madrigalia and Rochester Oratorio Society, and Lake Placid Sinfonietta. At ease as a choral director, professional chorister, or soloist, Mr. Stoneberg has spanned the baritone, tenor, and counter-tenor ranges, singing the tenor solos in Messiah, the title role in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, the title role in Rossini’s Le Compte Ory, and Mozart opera buffo roles Don Basilio in The Marriage of Figaro and Il Podesta in La Finta Giardiniera. To support his “music habit,” he is a database administrator at CACI. He and his wife, Diana, of over 40 years have two sons, Richard and Rolland. He is a board member of Music & Arts at Providence.
