Adult Ministry, chair: David Kepley
The Adult Ministry develops and directs ways to seek God’s truth through Sunday morning classes, focused weeknight studies during Advent and Lent, and management of the church library. The committee provides the congregation and community with guest speakers, topical seminars, small Bible study experiences, and monthly prayer meditations.
Children’s Ministry Committee, co-chairs: Susanne Fitch and Jen Prunty
The Children’s Ministry Committee develops and directs programs for the children of Providence age 4 through 6th grade. The committee provides Christ-centered Christian Education as a Presbyterian church, provides opportunities to learn about and participate in worship, and to engage in mission and fellowship. The committee also oversees childcare for infants and toddlers.
Congregational Life & Fellowship Committee, chair: Maribeth Luftglass
Membership Committee, chair: Jennifer Lewis-Cooper
The Membership Committee is charged with looking not only outward to our community, but also inward to our own congregation. Membership Committee hosts 3-4 Prospective Member classes and dinners throughout the year, in which we welcome those considering making Providence their church home. Further, Membership reaches out to members missing from the life of the congregation to express their care and concern on behalf of the church.
Mission Committee, chair: Paul Krumhaus
The Mission Committee gives regular, prayerful thought to what the “Kingdom of God” looks like from a variety of perspectives, and identifies some of the gaps between the present reality and the vision of the Kingdom. We enable and encourage Providence and each of its members to give their money, time and talents to narrow these gaps. We make thoughtful, responsible, informed decisions about the distribution of the church’s benevolent funds in the context of working towards the Kingdom and we ensure that working towards the Kingdom is an integral part of life as a member of Providence.
Nominating Committee, chair: Tim Taylor
The Nominating Committee, with prayerful consideration, develops the roster of candidates to fulfill the offices of elder, deacon and members of the nominating committee that will then be elected by the congregation of Providence Presbyterian Church.
Pastoral Care Committee, chair: Jane Prosperi
The Pastoral Care Committee reaches out in Christian love to our congregation in times of sadness and joy. Through notes, visits, meals, rides and telephone calls we offer support to Providence members and friends whose families have lost a loved one, welcomed a new baby, and celebrated a special occasion or suffered disappointment or loss. Each month a committee member serves as a primary contact to respond to requests for help from ministers and members.
Personnel Committee, chair: Tim Taylor
The Personnel Committee works closely with the Head of Staff to ensure that Providence is a good employer, compensating its staff fairly, keeping position descriptions up to date, and remaining compliant with employment law and church guidelines. The committee is also charged with filling non-pastoral positions that become vacant, recommending employment policies to the Session, and supporting the senior pastor in his/her role as Head of Staff.
Property Committee, co-chairs: Brian Singleton and Bertha McClintock
The Property Committee manages the care of the Church Buildings and the landscaping around the Church. The committee works with contractors to repair and maintain the electrical, plumbing, lighting, air conditioning and heating systems supporting all the activities of Providence. Members of the committee paint, when necessary, the interior and exterior of the Church, update landscaping, trim bushes, trees, and flowering plants, and help keep the facility beautiful for all members and visitors.
Stewardship & Finance Committee, co-chairs: Elly Brtva and Peter McClintock
The Stewardship & Finance Committee develops and runs the pledge campaigns to solicit funds to support our church mission and outreach, pay staff salaries, and support the operation of our church facilities. Throughout the budget year, the committee manages the budget and the expenditure of all funds.
Technology Committee, chair: Ken De Jong
The Technology Committee is charged with supporting a wide array of technologies that support the mission of the church. This includes the basic computing infrastructure (networks, servers, workstations, printers, email, web sites, etc.), the telephone infrastructure (lines, handsets, voice mail, etc.), and the audio-video infrastructure throughout the church. In addition to maintaining the existing technology infrastructure, the committee evaluates opportunities for improvements and new capabilities.
Worship Committee, chair: Beth Harrison
The Worship Committee carries out activities related to our worship services, seeking to introduce Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, nurture the faith of believers, demonstrate Christ’s way of love in service to the world, and be open to the revelation of God in all creation.
