Pastors and Staff

Rev. Dr. Michael P. Burns

The Rev. Dr. Michael P. Burns was called as the Pastor of Providence Presbyterian Church on Sunday, May 31, 2009, and began serving our congregation in July of 2009. Mick earned his Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1983, with a major in Preaching. He conducted his further studies through the Association of Chicago Theological Schools (ACTS) and McCormick Theological Seminary, completing the Doctor of Ministry degree in Preaching in 1999.
Rev. Mary E. Rodgers
Associate Pastor

The Rev. Mary Rodgers has been the Associate Pastor at Providence since 1998. Mary has a Masters Degree from Princeton Theological Seminary. Her programmatic focus at Providence is Connect Groups (small group ministry), Mission, Deacons, and CROSSing Paths (ministry to young families). A native of Charlotte, NC, she had a career as a Special Education teacher before being called into ministry.
Daryl Wright
Director of Children's Ministry

Before Daryl started attending worship here, his daughters (Macy and Claire) were involved in the Upward basketball program at this church over the past several years, and absolutely loved it. He and his wife Elaine have been married for 16 years, now living in Vienna. Elaine is a former New Jerseyan who is currently involved both in church ministry and in fundraising. Daryl has spent almost his entire life in the Vienna area, working in youth and children’s ministry. A few random facts: Daryl LOVES moose, large dogs, rabbits, playing music/songwriting, doing music gigs, memorizing Bible passages, running/using Fitbit, Chick-fil-A, sweet tea, time outdoors with his family, giving children’s talks, jazz, service ventures, the Philadelphia Phillies and the Nationals (yes, it’s possible to love both those teams at once!), and the Redskins.
Allison Hagner
Interim Director of Youth Ministry

Allison joined the staff in the fall of 2018 to take care of the administrative side of our Youth Ministry. She has a bachelor’s degree from Washington University, in St. Louis, MO, where she studied biology and psychology. She also has Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. With a parent in the U. S. Air Force, she has lived in many places, including England, Dayton, Ohio and Sumter, South Carolina.  She loves the energy and ideas the youth bring to our church family. Allison loves music, biking, hiking, gardening, working with Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.   Allison enjoys singing in the worship band in our contemporary service.  She lives in Annandale with her husband Chris and their two daughters and two sons.

Kyle Durbin
Financial Manager

Kyle and her husband, Jim, joined the Providence family in 2004. They have two children, Scott and Caitlyn.
Kathy Knorr
Communications Coordinator

Kathy, a Hoosier by birth, joined the Providence staff in March 2007, after 7-1/2 years as a stay-at-home mom and a part-time editor/proofreader working from home. At the turn of the century, her husband’s work took them to London for three years. In the 10 years before that, they lived in a lovely little community in Catonsville, MD, just outside of Baltimore, where their son, Derek, was born. She earned a Communications degree from Butler University in Indianapolis, and continues to be an avid fan of the Bulldogs. Kathy and Ed became members of Providence in January 2004; Derek was in the 2011 Confirmation class. They live in the Burke area with their older, yet still frisky, cat Charlie.
Jane Kaye

A transplanted Kansan, military life brought Jane Kaye to Fairfax. The music scene is so abundant that she and her family decided to make this their home after military life. Jane has been the collaborative keyboardist at Providence Presbyterian since August of 1999. She is also the vocal coach and principal accompanist for the George Mason University Chorale and principal accompanist for the Fairfax Choral Society Youth Choruses.Read more >>
Gene Kaye
Director, Providence Singers

During the day Gene works as an Information Security professional. Gene has also been singing professionally in the Washington DC area for many years. He started the Providence Singers as a mission outreach to bring big band and stage music to residents of local Nursing & Assisted Living Homes and Rehabilitation Centers. The Singers perform at a different facility each month. The Providence Singers are now in their 11th season and are still going strong. He also enjoys being married to the church organist.
Lee Faber
Facilities Manager

Lee joined the staff in May 2014. This Northern Virginia native grew up in Arlington, attending Arlington Presbyterian Church where she served as a ruling elder. Lee earned a BS in Business from George Mason University, and soon began many years of work in retail management. She then spent 15 years in the field of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), and has been a face painter for more than 7 years at corporate and private events. She and her husband, Rob, have two amazing kids, Jody & Cory (“my best work!”). Lee joined Providence in 1998 and is a member of the Praise Band. For her health (physical and mental!) she swims and walks. And, Lee holds a U.S. Patent. Ask her about it!
