Children's Ministry works to ensure the children of Providence receive a strong Christian Education Program. Our goals and objectives consist of solid Christ centered teaching, incorporating mission opportunities throughout the year, while educating and including children in worshiping our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We are always seeking new ideas to carry out our goals and objectives, and encourage people to get involved with the Children's Programs.
All Children's Ministry Volunteers must review the Providence Child Protection Policy, complete an "Application to Work with Children" form, and sign that you have read and will adhere to the Providence Child Protection Policy. Download these documents:
The following is a list of current volunteer opportunities:
Teachers. With a team of 3-4 teachers, teaches and shares the love and hope that lies in Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Teachers are provided with a Christ-centered, user-friendly curriculum along with many resources from which to choose depending on what you enjoy doing—arts and crafts, music, storytelling. Opportunities exist for each hour.
Nursery Workers. Fills in as needed to love and care for the youngest members of the body of Christ. This might involve rocking an infant, reading a story to a toddler, playing ball with a toddler.
Music Leaders. During the 10 am KidsQuest hour, you would lead music. We will train you.
Large Group Coordinator. During our Kid Connection Hour—10am Sunday School—would coordinate volunteers to lead music, the introduction, and the message.
Nursery Coordinator. Ensure the nurseries—infant and toddler—are kept clean, sanitary, and in working order. This could involve laundering sheets as needed, cleaning out toys, stocks and gets reimbursed for diapers, wipes, plastic gloves, snacks.
Easter Eggstravaganza Director. Pulls together a team of people to develop and implement the Easter Eggstravaganza usually held the Saturday before Palm Sunday. Past activities have included making small favor size Easter baskets for nursing homes, having students put paint on the bottom of their feet, walking on a white banner and then having their feet washed while hearing of how Jesus washed his disciples feet, making pretzels. Hearing about Jesus' journey to the cross. All culminating with a large Easter Egg Hunt. Lunch is also served. Many other volunteers are also need to help with this significant outreach event.
Vacation Bible Camp Director. Pulls together a team of people to develop and implement Vacation Bible Camp, usually held the last week of July or first week of August. Develops schedule, recruits teachers and activity leaders, publicizes in the community. In addition to the director, many volunteers are needed to make this a success - teachers, arts and crafts gurus, leadership in recreation, science and exploration, music, and snack coordinators. While this program is for Preschool through 6th grade, teachers' children under the age of three are provided childcare during this action packed outreach event.
Christmas Pageant Director. Selects and directs the Christmas Pageant usually held the Sunday before Christmas. The Christmas Pageant involves all children 3 years old through 6th grade.
KidsQuest Serving Others Coordinator. Researches, organizes and implements service opportunities in which the children may participate. Acts as a resource for Sunday School teachers should they want to include a service activity with a particular Sunday School lesson.
Sunday School Supply Coordinator. Organizes and stocks arts and crafts supplies for upper and lower Williamson resource rooms. This person may purchase items and will get reimbursed, or work with the Children's Ministry Coordinator to purchase items. Also stocks snack supply for nursery and Worship KidStyle.
KidsQuest Fellowship Coordinator. Organizes and implements KidsQuest fellowship activities for students in grades 4-6—i.e. movie night, ice skating, bowling.
Upward Basketball. Opportunities exist for coaches, referees, devotional leadership. The commitment is primarily for January and February for practices and games, both held once week.
