Feasting on the Word
Parlor
NEW! This brand new curriculum offers the opportunity to delve into the weekly sermon a little more in-depth. The weekly lessons provide teachers with insights related to the lectionary readings for each Sunday. Our pastors will offer prayerful interpretations of the weekly lesson through their sermons, while the class concurrently explores how the same lesson touches each of us. Most of the passages for this fall come from Matthew's gospel. These readings focus on some of Jesus' most cryptic and perceptive parables, including the "ten bridesmaids" and "the lambs and the goats." Join this adventure in growing our faith!!
This class is also offered to the senior high youth of Providence.
Stay tuned for 5th Sunday Feast announcements!
Leaders: David Kepley, Gayle Schlenker, Nathan Curtis and Kevin Wright.

The Newspaper Class
Room 207
This class focuses on topics taken from today's headlines. Hank Schlenker leads a discussion-based class with a focus of looking at current events through a Biblical lense. Popular and long running, the class fills up every week.

Hebrew Scriptures
Room 208
This course provides an overview of the contents and historical context of the Hebrew Scriptures (aka Jewish "Tanackh" or Christian "Old Testament"). It consists of half-hour (DVD) lectures by Dr. Amy-Jill Levine, Professor of Theology at Vanderbilt University, followed by facilitated discussions of the material covered in the lectures. Dr. Levine helps us develop a deeper appreciation and understanding of this sacred text by providing background in history, archaeology, cross-cultural studies, and comparative religion. Under the leadership of John McCarthy, the course will be offered in two 12-week sessions. The first session will cover Genesis through Deuteronomy (the Torah). The second session will cover the Prophets and the "Writings" (i.e., the Histories, Wisdom Literature, etc.).
